- Dries van Agt, lijsttrekker van het CDA, bezocht op 8 mei 1981 met een delegatie van zijn partij de directie van Fokker. Het kabinet Van Agt Wiegel besloot een aantal dagen voor de verkiezingen van 26 mei de ontwikkeling van een nieuw vliegtuig dat Fokker in samenwerking met het Amerikaanse bedrijf McDonnell Douglas ging bouwen (de MDF-100) te steunen door Fokker 800 miljoen gulden aan te bieden. Het aantal arbeidsplaatsen bij Fokker zou daardoor van 8.700 naar 12.000 toenemen. Bovendien zouden nog eens 1000 banen bij de toeleveringsbedrijven worden geschapen. Op de foto links: vier directeuren van Fokker: H. J. Grobben (Directeur Financiƫn en Economie), D. Krook (Directeur Marketing en Verkoop), F. Nel (Directeur Technologie), mr. J. Donders (Directeur Personeels- en Sociale Zaken). De staande figuur links is L. Steijn (Ondernemingsbetrekkingen/ Media relaties). Rechts zitten CDA-vertegenwoordigers. De mensen die achter in de zaal staan zijn journalisten. Op het schilderij is de oprichter van het bedrijf: Anthonie Fokker te zien. Het portret is in 1957 door Bernard van Vlijmen geschilderd. Voor dit bezoek aan Fokker had Van Agt zijn voorgenomen bezoek aan de Bijlmer, een achterstandswijk in Amsterdam, afgezegd.
