- Description
- From the fifteenth century onwards Dutch bibles were provided with maps. These maps usually came in series of six and served to show the geographical locations of actions described in the Old and New testament. A general map of the Holy Land was always included. This map was originally published by Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652). This version of the map was published in 1659 by his son Nicolaas Visscher I (1618-1679).
