- Deze voorstelling is geschilderd naar een prent uit De pampiere wereld van I.H. Krul, voor het eerst gepubliceerd in 1644. De titel en voorstelling 'Een gierig hert, bemind sijn smert' waarschuwt voor een huwelijk dat vooral om het geld gesloten is. Op de tegel is enkel te zien hoe de man een trouwring aanbiedt, de zakken met geld zijn hier niet overgenomen. Tegels met dergelijke galante voorstellingen worden vaak Grauda-tegels genoemd. Pieter Grauda was in de jaren 1681-1708 eigenaar van de oudste gleibakkerij in Harlingen, gelegen aan De Schritsen, hoek Raamstraat. In het Fries Museum zijn de sponsen (doorgeprikte ontwerptekeningen voor tegels) met zijn monogram bewaard. Waarschijnlijk waren de ontwerpen echter al lang in het bedrijf aanwezig toen Grauda eigenaar werd.
