Ruth Jacot
Ruth Jacott became the best-known hit singer in the 1990s, of Surinamese descent and with a Dutch-language repertoire of R&B, soul and pop. She was delegated to the Eurovision Song Festival in Ireland in 1993, taking sixth place with the song Vrede (‘Peace’). She was received the national music award the Golden Harp in 1997 for her unique contributions to Dutch music.
