Province of Groningen
In four provinces steps were taken to issue emergency money, namely, Drenthe, Overijssel, Friesland and Groningen. Only Friesland and Groningen eventually brought the money into circulation. The emergency money of the Province Groningen circulated much longer than the money of the municipalities. On 14 May the first notes were brought into circulation and more than two months later, on 16 July 1940 the emergency money was withdrawn. The period given to hand in the money was initially set at four days but was subsequently extended twice, eventually until 1 April 1941 (!).
