- De staande man is zijn auto aan het voltanken en houdt de hoeveelheid bij op de teller schuin boven zijn hoofd. Veel pompstations waren in 1985 al geautomatiseerd. Pompstation Hazeldonk, dat zich aan de snelweg Breda-Antwerpen nabij de Belgische grens bevindt, was destijds het modernste pompstation in het bezit van Shell. Er zijn dan 24 pompen aanwezig en het is dag en nacht geopend, 7 dagen in de week. Er zijn 4 kassa's waar kan worden afgerekend. Betaling kan contant, per cheque, maar eventueel ook met een Shellpasje. De verkoop van brandstof en winkelartikelen, de voorraadbeheersing en administratie zijn volledig geautomatiseerd.
