- Description
- During his time in Paris, Van Gogh wished to develop his skills as a portrait painter. For this reason he made a great number of self-portraits. This is the only one in which he depicted himself as an artist with palette, brushes and a canvas on a wooden frame. It is also one of the few self-portraits that he elaborated in great detail and then signed.
