- Description
- This map of Central Asia was published in 1630 by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638). The enormous area was originally inhabited by several people who rode on horse back, the Tartars. After they were defeated by Djengis-Khan in 1202 these people became part of the Mongol Empire. The name Tartaria became synonimous with the Mongols.
