- Description
- This painting with its bright colours and erratic, abstract forms shows us tree-roots and plants on a woodland floor. Van Gogh had already drawn the same subject in 1882, and said that the gnarled roots expressed ‘something of life’s struggle.’ It is not known whether he had a similar intention with the work shown here.
