"With Germany…"
The "With Germany…" campaign was preceded by weeks of preparation. The NSB put a lot of effort into it. No less than 150,000 posters were printed of the four slogans that were used. Advertising agencies hung up over 20,000 copies measuring 24 by 35 inches (60 x 90 cm) on the official placard pillars. The Dutch Railways had 6,000 posters installed in stations.
Opponents and NSB members alike had difficulty with the interpretation of the slogan "With Germany for a free Holland". What did the word "free" entail in this context? An explanation was demanded of the NSB headquarters, but the resulting words that came out of Utrecht proved unable to elucidate matters: "True freedom is known to be connected to the group interest and subsequently to the community interest", and therefore the Dutch people were connected in freedom to the German people.
