- Aan de Th. de Grootweg in Amsterdam ziet men het interieur van een woonkamer uit 1986. De tweepersoonswoningen, ontworpen door H. van Vreeswijk in 1962, staan in Osdorp, één van de westelijke tuinsteden. In Nederland ging men na de Tweede Wereldoorlog over tot het bouwen van deze woonwijken om de woningnood op te kunnen vangen. Behalve dat er te weinig woningen waren heerste er ook materiaalschaarste. Bewoners die het geluk hadden een woning te hebben gevonden werden geconfronteerd met bijna lege meubelwinkels. De Stichting Goed Wonen gaf door het geven van voorlichting aan consumenten oplossingen voor deze problemen. Zij propageerde eenvoud. Grote ramen waren belangrijk om licht, lucht en zon naar binnen te laten treden. Het was dus zaak de ramen zoveel mogelijk vrij te laten. En niet zoals op de foto het geval is gordijnen ervoor te hangen. De relatie met buiten werd zo teniet gedaan. Bovendien moesten kleuren licht en helder zijn. Door de eikenhouten meubels waren de kleuren donker en zwaar. De foto is dus een voorbeeld van hoe het niet moest. Door de stijging van de welvaart, in de jaren zestig, werd het ook mogelijk het interieur in te richten naar de eigen opvattingen over stijl en smaak. De stichting verloor haar invloed op het gebied van het interieur en ging zich concentreren op de woonomgeving.
