- Description
- Gedetailleerde allegorische voorstelling waarin de arminianen bespot worden. De prent is een bewerking van een oude plaat van Simon Frisius vervaardigd in 1609 ter gelegenheid van het Bestand. Centraal in de voorstelling staat een toren met kleine scènes van de verrichtingen van de arminianen in de steden van Utrecht, Leiden, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Gouda, Schoonhoven, Hoorn, Alkmaar en Kampen. Op de toren staan de waardgelders en personificaties van Afgunst, Bedrog, Laster, Verleiding en Dwaling. Op de voorgrond, aan de voet van de toren, zitten de zeven provinciemaagden. Links en rechts torens van de prins van Oranje en de Nederlandse Leeuw. In de lucht vliegen Faam en Tijd.
