- Een hensbeker is een extra mooie beker waaruit gedronken werd bij speciale gelegenheden. Het wapen van Beemsterlant op dit glas illustreert de hoge verwachtingen van de droogleggers: korenaren en vruchten flankeren de koe. Echter, het nieuwe land was ongeschikt voor landbouw. De drassige bodem kon slechts veeteelt verduren.
