- This view on the Tijgersgracht was included in the richly illustrated travel journal of Johan Nieuhoff, a worldtraveller from Amsterdam. The Tijgersgracht was one of most beautiful canals in Batavia in the 17th century. Along the canal were houses and buildings from the nobility of the city.
