The poem De achttien dooden (The eighteen dead) was written by the poet and resistance fighter Jan Campert after the execution of fifteen Beggars (resistance fighters in the Second World War) and three men who had participated in the February strike. It is one of the best known Dutch war poems by Jan Campert, who paid with his life for his resistance activities.
