- Een pentekening van twee tenten tussen palmen. In het midden staat een man voor één van de tenten. Toevoeging maker: Na ontscheping te Singapore volgde transport per truck naar het 'Changikamp' in de buurt van de beruchte Changi gevangenis. Het gedeelte van het kamp waar wij werden ondergebracht bestond uit een verzameling oude Engels legertenten tussen de restanten van een klapperbos dicht bij het strand. Vermoedelijk hebben de Japanners hier landingen uitgevoerd, gezien de kapot geschoten klapperbomen en de overal verspreid liggende Engels helmen en andere uitrustingsstukken. De tenten waren smerig en zaten onder de wandluizen. De bewaking was in handen van, naar de Japanners overgelopen, Sikhs. Deze soldaten bezorgde ons totaal geen last. Het bijschrift bij een kopie van deze tekening in het NIOD luidt: "Singapore. Hierna was Changi een paradijs door echt volkomen ontbreken van Japanse bewaking en de grote uitgestrektheid van het kamp. Voedsel was te weinig doch klappers waren er voldoende te krijgen. Bewaking werd uitgevoerd door overgelopen Sikhs van het Engelse leger."
