- Description
- Een dergelijk vat voor gewijd water wordt geplaatst op een driepoot. Op de rand een tuit in de vorm van een schildpadhoofd. Dit is een duidelijk verwijzing naar de berg Meru. Meru is de verblijfplaats van de goden en het centrum van het Universum. De goden gebruikten de berg als een karnstok bij het karnen van de wereldzeeën. De god Vishnu in de gedaante van een reusachtige schildpad diende de stok tot steun. Een van de producten die zo werd verkregen was het levenselixer.
