Catholic life in images > Dr. W.H. Nolens, Esq
These caricatures come from the archives of Nolens that are preserved by the KDC. The prints were collected by the priest and head of state himself from circa 1895 to 1922, and were for the most part collected from socialist magazines like De Notenkraker, Uilenspiegel, Het Volk and De Amsterdammer. They were drawn by several artists, including Johan Braakensiek, Patrick Kroon (Orion), Albert Hahn and Leendert Jordaan.
Nolens (1860-1931) was member and president of the parliamentary group of the Roman Catholic State Party. He was well known both inside and outside the Netherlands as an expert on social legislature.
