Military Life > The library/multimedia centre of the Army Museum
The Army Museum has one of the largest museum libraries/multimedia centres in the Netherlands, consisting of some three hundred thousand volumes and sixty thousand pictures. The accent lies on military and military-technical books.
Books and manuscripts
Important libraries and collections, well-known in the world of military history, have been added to the Army Museum's library/multimedia centre. In addition to the library that the museum has built up since 1913, the portfolio includes the library of the former Ministry of War and the former military library of the Koninklijk Huisarchief (Royal Archives). The latter contains some specimens of fine bookbinding originating from The Hague.
Other objects
Thanks to donations, purchases and exchanges, the collection has become immensely varied. Beside books and periodicals, the collection now includes paintings, water colours, drawings, prints, photographs, plate and film negatives and slides, topographical maps and atlases, posters and small one-penny prints, technical and construction drawings, picture postcards, films and videotapes, gramophone records, CDs and sheet music.
