Fetching food
At the beginning of the war, there was enough food, but the situation deteriorated rapidly. All kinds of food were in short supply. Most camps had a central kitchen where the food was prepared in large drums. Lighting the fire, boiling water, cleaning vegetables, cooking and distributing food were part of the kitchen chores. Portions were most carefully weighed. In 1944 and 1945, hunger was prevalent both inside and outside the camps

- Een pentekening met gewassen lichtblauwe inkt ingekleurd, van mannen in de rij voor eten. De mannen zijn van middelbare leeftijd en ouder. Allen zijn verschillend van postuur en dragen allerlei soorten kleding waaronder pyjama's. Op de achterzijde van de tekening in potlood: "'Eten halen!' J. Grenzenberg, C. van Dijk, W.J. Perk, M.C.H. van der Akker, Toontje Tosisoen, Van Aken, Blonde, Westmaas". Achter de laatste zes namen staat een doodskruisje.
