What strikes visitors when they look at all the pictures of exhibitions in the Centraal Museum is the increasing role played by design through the years. Today’s gallery visitors are no longer accustomed to exhibitions just being rather dreary displays of works of art. The importance of design in modern exhibitions is made clear by the Woman By exhibition, one of a number of exhibitions on contemporary fashion organized by the Centraal Museum at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The design of this exhibition was the work of the stylist Maarten Spruyt.
