N. Bodenheim
Illustrator Nelly Bodenheim (1874-1951) attended art classes given by August Allebé and Jan Veth. She belonged to the so-called Amsterdam Damsels ('Amsterdamse joffers'), a group of women painters in Amsterdam. Bodenheim is mostly known for her illustrations of children’s books. In 1899 and 1902, she painted various fine botanical charts for the Amsterdam professor Hugo de Vries, most of them to illustrate his lectures on heredity.
