Design prefabricated home
After his experience with the unruly building industry in the construction of the Schröder house and his ‘experiment in industrialized building’ with the chauffeur’s dwelling, Rietveld attempted to market his idea for prefab architecture in the shape of a small working class dwelling. It really is small: one floor measures a mere 24m2. The text in the drawing is in German as the German hinterland (countryside ?) is much larger. Rietveld made a mistake in the drawing: the shower in the dining room and the kitchen near the beds. He simply solved this by using arrows. His extremely experimental style can also be found in the space saving use of an elevator rather than stairs.
