- De kleedjes (ondergordijntjes) zijn meestal van een mooie gebloemde katoen of een prachtige sits, of ze zijn gewoon wit. Zij worden gesteven en geplooid en van tijd tot tijd, aan de onderzijde samengebonden met een bandje. De uitleg hierover is tweeledig: Wanneer de "baas" thuis is kan hij rustig aan het raam gezeten zijn pijpje roken en de bedrijvigheid op straat gade slaan. Het omgekeerde wordt ook beweerd, dat de gordijntjes juist dicht zijn wanneer de "baas" thuis is. Een andere verklaring is, dat op door de weekse dagen wanneer de kamer gedaan wordt, de gordijndijntjes samengebonden zijn. Voor een feestdag of 's Zondags wordt het bandje eraf gehaald en vertonen ze mooie scherpe plooitjes.
