- Deze pop maakt deel uit van een serie poppen, verspreid binnen serie 4, van type vrouwen uit de verschillende regio's van Nederlands-Indie, die een bepaald ambacht uitbeelden. Ze waren, regionaal geordend, te zien op de tentoonstelling "De vrouw 1813-1913" te Amsterdam in 1913. Vanuit het koloniaal ethische ontwikkelingsperspectief dat in deze periode ook het wereldbeeld van de tentoonstellingsoganisatrices bepaalde getuigden deze poppen zowel van de schoonheid en de verschillende vormen van (kunst)nijverheid in Nederlands-Indie, als van de ontwikkeling en sociale zorg (onder westerse leiding) die zij nodig hadden. Bij deze Javaanse vlechtster hoort de half afgevlochten hoed (4-1b). Zij is gekleed in een gebatikte sarong met gevarieerd parang wesak patroon. Om het bovenlichaam heeft zij een slendang gewikkeld. In de haarwrong een haarspeld, bestaande uit een rozetvormig ornament met lichtrode steen in zilverkleurig metaal.
