- Description
- Darink (veen) werd gebruikt bij de bereiding van zout. De darink werd uit de grond gespit en daarna op hopen te drogen gelegd. Dit werd vervolgens verbrand. De sterk zouthoudende as werd naar de zoutketen gevoerd waar het met zeewater werd vermengd. Tenslotte werd dit mengsel in grote pannen boven turfvuren tot zout ingedampt. Zout was een van de artikelen waarop eeuwenlang impost of accijns werd geheven. De zoutaccijns werd in 1941 afgeschaft.
