Pinocchio
A wooden doll whose nose grows each time he tells a lie. The famous children’s novel about this unusual marionette was first published in 1883. Pinnocchio was created by the Italian writer Carlo Collodi (1826-1890). Theatre puppets may be beautifully crafted, they are nothing without their manipulator. That is what sets Pinocchio apart from his fellow puppets; this wooden fellow comes to life all by himself. As soon as he has a mouth, he starts to talk, and when he is given feet, he walks away.
