After 1947, the photographs were exhibited and published as well. The photo shown here, for instance, was on view during Foto '48 (Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1948), Photographie (Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1952) and Mensen/People (Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1969).

With reference to the photographs on view during Foto '48, Piet Zwart wrote:

'And who presented a more convincing image of the people's confidence in their own ability to build a new social order than Cas Oorthuys in his Indonesian photographs? He pressed the physiognomy of a people in pursuit of freedom in our hands.' (6)
